Holiness

Seeing as He Sees

Holiness is not a set of rules. It is not behavior modification. It is not about appearing righteous, talking right, or even doing good things. Holiness is sight. It is seeing rightly. It is seeing as He sees.

Sin is not just bad behavior, it is blindness. The fall of man was not just disobedience, it was a distortion of vision. Eve looked at the fruit and saw something desirable. She thought she was gaining knowledge, but in reality, she was stepping into deception. That is what sin does. It warps reality, flips truth upside down, and makes death look like life.

Jesus came to restore sight.

In John 18 34, Pilate asks Jesus if He is the King of the Jews, and Jesus responds, “Do you say this of your own accord, or did others say it to you about me” Jesus was exposing something deeper. Pilate was standing in front of the King of Glory and could not see Him. His perception was shaped by external voices, by fear, by the system he was a part of. He had no revelation, only secondhand knowledge. That is the difference between holiness and religion.

Holiness is when you see rightly. Religion is when you borrow someone else’s vision.

Jesus said, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God” Matthew 5 8. Seeing God is the byproduct of purity. Why? Because holiness is clarity. It removes the fog, strips away deception, and makes the Kingdom visible. Sin clouds vision. Holiness restores it.

Isaiah stood before the Lord and cried, “Woe is me For I am lost, for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips, for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts” Isaiah 6 5. The moment he saw rightly, he saw his own condition. That is what holiness does. It brings revelation, then transformation.

Righteousness is the fruit of holiness. When you see rightly, you live rightly. Holiness is the root, righteousness is the evidence. This is why so many struggle with sin, they are trying to fix behavior without fixing vision. You cannot live right if you do not see right.

The Pharisees followed the law better than anyone, yet they were blind. Jesus told them, “You blind guides You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel” Matthew 23 24. They were obsessed with performance but could not recognize the Messiah standing in front of them. They cleaned the outside of the cup but were blind to the filth inside. They thought holiness was about doing, but holiness is about seeing.

When Jesus healed the blind, it was not just physical, it was prophetic. Every miracle pointed to the greater reality of the Kingdom. The greatest healing is when He restores the sight of the heart. Paul says, “The god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ” 2 Corinthians 4 4. That is the war. Satan blinds, Jesus restores.

So the question is, how do you see? Are you seeing through the lens of culture, opinion, fear, and religion? Or are you seeing through the eyes of the Spirit?

Holiness is not an option. It is a requirement. Not because God is obsessed with rules, but because without holiness, you are blind. “Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord” Hebrews 12 14. If you do not see Him, you will not reflect Him.

Holiness is not legalism. It is freedom. It is the ability to see without deception. It is stepping out of the fog of sin and into the clarity of the Kingdom. It is standing before the King and recognizing Him for who He is.

Everything flows from sight. If you see rightly, you will live rightly. If you see Him, you will become like Him. Holiness is not a burden, it is a gift. It is the invitation to see as He sees.

And once you see Him, nothing else will ever compare.
