Walking in the Light as He is in the Light

Walking in the Light as He is in the Light

You know, I used to think walking in the light meant trying really hard to do the right thing. Like, if I could just get myself together, clean up my mess, and make all the right choices, then I could finally step into the light where God is. But beloved identity changes everything. It’s not about striving to be worthy of the light it’s about knowing I was born for it.

God doesn’t invite us into the light so He can expose what’s wrong with us. He invites us because that’s where we were always meant to be. The light is home. It’s not a spotlight of shame it’s a warm, glorious place where we finally see ourselves the way He sees us. Fully known. Fully loved. Fully His.

There’s a difference between walking toward the light and walking in the light. Religion tells you to chase the light, to work your way into it, to prove you belong there. But beloved identity says, “You don’t have to strive for what’s already yours.” Jesus didn’t just call us into the light He placed His own light inside us. So walking in the light isn’t about getting to a place it’s about realizing we’re already in it.

And here’s the best part: light doesn’t make you worthy it reveals that you already are. We’ve spent too much time believing we’re just barely making it, like we’re standing at the edge of the light, hoping He lets us in. But He never saw us that way. The moment we said yes to Him, we stepped into a reality where darkness lost its power over us. We don’t belong to the shadows anymore. We don’t live in shame. We don’t shrink back.

When we walk in the light, we walk as sons and daughters who are at rest. No performing. No pretending. Just the simple confidence that we are who He says we are. The light doesn’t require perfection; it simply requires trust. Trust that we are loved. Trust that we are held. Trust that the Father’s heart is good.

And you know what happens when we live that way? Fear loses its grip. The enemy has no hold on someone who refuses to believe the lie that they’re unworthy. Guilt can’t control someone who knows they’re already forgiven. Shame can’t whisper when we’ve already said yes to love.

See, we’re not called to barely survive we’re called to flourish in the light. To walk boldly. To dance freely. To wake up every morning knowing we are safe in the Father’s love. The same love Jesus had, the same relationship He shared with the Father, is ours. He didn’t just show us the way to the light He made sure we’d never have to leave it.

So if you’ve ever felt like the light was too far away, hear me: you are already in it. You don’t have to earn it. You don’t have to chase it. You are beloved. You are chosen. You are home. And the more we embrace that truth, the brighter we shine.

So let’s walk in the light as He is in the light. Let’s throw off the lies of unworthiness. Let’s live like we are fully loved  because we are. And in doing so, we become living proof of just how good our Father really is.
